Our Speeches as PowerPoint Presentations - When we contact you to speak, we will also know which of the following topics the audience wants. You can also feel free to customize these speeches:
* Elder Exploitation in Florida- For civic organizations such as Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs, as well as senior organizations. This speech educates people about the various ways seniors can become victims of fraud, such as credit card, identity theft and mail. It also gives them resources to help prevent these frauds or what to do if they have become victims. * Protecting the Future of Our Seniors - Also for civic and senior organizations. This speech presents various difficulties seniors face, such as relatives who may take advantage of them, and government bureaucracy they may face in their daily lives. This speech also offers tips and resources.
Accompanying Handouts/Speaker Guides - Each speech has an accompanying handout for your audiences. Since some organizations you will speak to do not provide PowerPoint equipment, these handouts can also act as speaker guides for you.
Speech Ice-Breaker - Designed to add humor while educating, this warms up both the speaker and the audience. It is recommended that you speak with your audience's contact person to pre-select three people, then as you begin your speech, ask them to come up to answer the ice-breaker questions.

This issue’s tip: Preventing Identity Theft
While 20 percent of Florida’s population today is over the age of 65, by 2025, that number will increase to 26 percent. With that kind of growth, we will undoubtedly see an increase in unscrupulous individuals who try to take advantage of our seniors.
This means we must be more vigilant than ever about elder exploitation. There are several types of ways that criminals will try to rip-off seniors.
One is stealing your personal information, otherwise known as identity theft. This can happen when someone steals your credit card number and passwords, those numbers you type in at automated teller machines or when making a purchase.
Here are some valuable tips to help prevent identity theft:
· Shred important papers.
· Don’t put outgoing mail in unsecured mailbox.
· Don’t carry too many credit cards.
· Only share personal information on phone or Internet if you initiate contact.
· When using your computer, use virus protection and a firewall.
· Review credit report annually.
· Cover your screen when typing in a password for your credit card.
Following the above measures can help you and the seniors in your family avoid loss of money, time and dignity.
